What happens if you run on the field...

Yes. That is a guy in a wedding dress being taken off the field after having run onto it illegally a week ago at Turner Field.

He lost a bet. Well, a shooting contest. And he spent the night in jail. I understand he may have spent more time in jail, but I'm getting conflicting reports.

This is the first field invation in the past two seasons at Turner Field during a game. There have been some after the game, but this one was during the 8th inning.

Oh, and apparently the guy wasn't drunk.

And where did he get the grass stains from?

I hope he does the maximum time. Which would be 1 year in jail for misdeamenor criminal trespassing. Throw the book at him. Seriously. Why? Because of the copy cats. And we don't need that.

People have forgotten how big of a problem it is to have field invations. Yeah, this guy was just running around, but need I remind you of what could happen?

Read and watch videos here from my previous blog entry, "Thank You For Tasering". It has the Phillies fan getting tasered on the field, but also why field invations need to be stopped. I included a video of an incident in Chicago with first base coach for the Kansas City Royal, Tom Gamboa. A fan and his son ran onto the field and beat up the first base coach. The coach suffered perminate hearing loss in his right ear.

I'll let you look at the videos and explanation there. I re-read that and stand by my opinions. I do NOT support the AJC's Christian Boone and his article on July 21 which seems to praise the incident. It quotes another man that's "jealous" of the wedding crasher. It talks very little about his possible punishment. A year in jail. The fines. The ban from Turner Field. None of that. But you get this from the article instead:

"The 26-year-old Decatur resident thought about it a good 30 minutes before turning to his cousin: "You got my bail, right?"

"And with that Georgia's second-most famous runaway bride climbed the outfield fence -- fortunately he eschewed matching heels -- and leaped onto the warning track to cheers from the near-sellout crowd."

While the article does mention the incident in Chicago, it's literally a few sentences. Everything else is glorifing this stupid decision by the Decatur resident.

Throw the book at him legal system. Then, Christian Boone of the AJC, I expect an equally long article about the consequences of creating such a moment that creates such "feelings of jealousy" in others.
