Myrtle Beach and Baseball
Okay, I'm back from Myrtle Beach.
Stephanie is also back home. We had a great trip! But more about that in a little bit.
Before I left for Myrtle Beach, I went to a Gwinnett Braves game (minor league baseball) with my cousin Kevin. It was a really interesting experience. We had a good time. We sat on the berm; a grassy hill just past the outfield fence. Never seen a game from there.
I said I was going to catch a homerun ball.

And I did. Awesome.
Earlier in the day, I went to the Braves Museum. Here's some of the pictures I took on the tour and in the museum.

By the way, the answers to all of the Braves trivia questions can be found in the slides.
Okay, so on to Stephanie! We stayed here in Georgia for a little while. This gave Stephanie some quality bonding time...

...with the cat, Nemo.
So, we left the state and headed to South Carolina's Myrtle Beach.
We left on Sunday and returned Wednesday. During our trip we went to Margaritaville, Planet Hollywood, Boardwalk, Broadway on the Beach, and some other cool places, in addition to the beach.
By the way, I got burned.

Pretty bad. But I was able to make some cool hand prints on myself. Neato!

I had to find some relief from the agony. I found this cool product call Zydrate. Zydrate comes in a little glass vile. And the little glass vile goes into a gun like a battery. And the Zydrate gun goes somewhere against your anatomy. And when the gun goes off, it sparks and it helps with the agony.
Okay, so those are acutally lyrics from a song in "REPO: The Genetic Opera". Awesome song. True relief came from the following.

Chilled aloe gel. Feels great.
It is a bad thing that I burned. Totally unhealthy and painful. I did put on sunscreen, but I guess it washed off. I didn't reapply. Lesson learned.
Back to the sights. Here are some pictures from the trip.

I also gave Stephanie the other part of her gift: a scrap book I made of our last three years together. Here are photos of each of the pages.

The drive back today was a little bit miserable. It's always sad leaving Stephanie. Well, today she left really early in the morning via airplane. That left me in Myrtle by myself. I had to find something to do.

I decided it was probably best to just go ahead and make the long drive back home and not look for trouble.
By the way, the Gay Dolphin is a sign we saw when we got lost (for the first time) looking for a place to eat. Apparently, it's a local landmark. An old, popular gift shop. There were tons and TONS of gift shops. At least one every quarter mile. No joke.
I wish we had found a decent map of Myrtle. We got lost finding food when we first arrived. We got lost looking for the romantic restaurant. And we got lost looking for the airport. No fun with that.
Overall, it was a fantastic trip. I really enjoy spending time with Stephanie. She's wonderful and I love her a lot.
Alright, alright. I'll shut up now. Stop gagging, reader!

Okay, it's been way to long since I've updated any trivia questions. So, here's a pair, Braves related.
One: The Braves have not always been known as the Braves. Back when they were in Boston, they were called six different names before settling on the Braves. a. Colonials
b. Bees
c. Doves
d. Baymen
e. Pelicans
f. Rustlers
g. Red Caps
h. Beaneaters
i. Bankers
j. Breakers
k. Red Stockings
l. Blue Sox
Two: The Braves have had a number of interesting uniforms since their conception. Below are descriptions of four different uniform worn by players or the team as a whole. One is false. Pick out the uniform description that never happened.
a. In 2002, the Braves donned desert camoflauge uniforms for two Sunday home games in honor of the armed services.
b. Andy Messersmith wore the number "17" and his name was replaced with "Channel" for one game to help promote the TBS Superstation.
c. The Braves wear red jerseys for every Sunday home game with a blue tomahawk.
d. When the Braves first started playing night games, they wore shiny satin uniforms because of the way they "glittered" under the stadium lights.
The answers are finally posted to all former questions here.

Trivia (Disney)
Well, I'm going out of town for a few days. Visiting Stephanie.
So, I'm going to ask four questions for today and the three days I'll be gone. All of these are based on Disney World. Let's go!
One:
Epcot has a very iconic symbol, a giant silver ball. Often called "The Golf Ball", this structure actually houses a ride about the history of mankind.
What is the name of this sphere?

Two:
The great sphere in Question One is 180 feet tall. The Magic Kingdom houses Cinderella's Castle at 189 feet tall, though it appears taller due to forced perspective. The Hollywood Tower of Terror was the tallest structure in the resort at 199 feet until Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest trumped it at 199.5 feet.
So the question is: Why are all the current attractions in Walt Disney World under 200 feet tall?

Three:
In the Magic Kingdom is Tomorrowland, "the future that never was". It's modeled after 20th Century comic book ideals of the future. Inside Tomorrowland are several unique features that entertain guests, including performing characters. One, however, is perhaps more unexpected than the rest.
What is the name of the talking trash can found in Tomorrowland?
Four:
Disney never calls anything by its name. This helps maintain the idea that Disney World is in fact a world unto itself.
What are employees called at Walt Disney World?
The answers will be found on Monday here along with all the answers to the questions asked this month. Enjoy.

Trivia (Parking)
Walt Disney World has several transportation options. Monorail, bus, boat, plus the tried and true walking. But let's not forget the all important automobile. And, if you're going to Epcot or the Magic Kingdom, you first have to park the car in one of six parking lots then get to the Ticket and Transportation Center.
The six parking lots are named after Snow White's dwarves. Wait a second! Aren't there seven dwarves? Absolutely. One did not get a lot named after him, and for fairly good reason.
Which dwarf doesn't have a parking lot named for him at Walt Disney World Resort?
Answer to this soon. Previous answers available by clicking here

Trivia (Mountain Dew)
Who's thirsty? I have always loved Mountain Dew. Dew is simply spectacular. In fact, it has inspired a spin-off energy drink, AMP. It also comes in a variety of flavors.
Besides original Dew, can you name the other four Dew varieties? (Diet doesn't count.)

Trivia (Stanley Cup)
Today's trivia is a simple true / false question.
The NHL's grand reward is the Stanley Cup, pictured below (for some reason being licked by Hayden Panettiere of "Heroes" fame).

The Cup has the names of the winners and teams etched into it and is passed from team to team, year to year. There is only one trophy, unlike in the NBA, MLB and NFL which present a new trophy (albeit the same name) to their champsions. Actually, it is never the property of any one team, though the players from the Championship team do get to spend one day with the Cup each during the summer.
Here's the question.
True of False: The Cup is perfect and contains no misspelled words.

Q: True / False. The Stanley Cup is perfect with no typos.
A: False.
Names misspelled on the Stanley Cup -- Adam Deadmarsh was spelled Deadmarch -- but later was changed; the only misspelled name to be corrected.
Some other misspells on the Cup that never have been corrected: Jacques Plante's name has been misspelled five times, (incl. "Jocko," "Jack" and "Plant"); Bob Gainey was spelled "Gainy" when he was a player for Montreal in the 70s; Ted Kennedy was spelled "Kennedyy" in the 40s; New York Islanders was spelled "Ilanders" in 1980/81; the Toronto Maple Leafs was spelled "Leaes" in 1962/63; the Boston Bruins was spelled "Bqstqn" in 1972.
Name scratched out - "Basil Pocklington," father of former Edmonton Oilers owner, Peter, put his dad's name on the Stanley Cup in 1983/84; today, on the Cup, one can see a series of "Xs" over his name.

Trivia (3-D)
I'm a recent fan of Disney World. One of the newest attractions is a midway style ride in 3-D, Toy Story Midway Mania. This is a revolutionary attration, but not the first at the resort to use this type of technology. Many of the show-style attractions already use 3-D (or in some cases 4-D) techniques. But, in traditional Disney fashion, nothing is called what it actually is.
Can you name the only Walt Disney World show attraction that actually calls their 3-D glasses, well, 3-D glasses?

Answers to previous questions here and the hockey quiz .

We do have a question for today.
You come across the following two snakes in the woods. Which one is venomous?

Trivia
Today's question:
The Braves are the only team to have won the World Series in three seperate cities. Name the cities.
And, of course, the answer to yesterday trivia question.
The question was: "What police agency developed SWAT, the D.A.R.E. program, and the motto "To Protect and Serve"? "
The answer: LAPD . The Los Angeles Police Department.
Both SWAT and D.A.R.E. were actually created under the same administration. That adminisitration? Chief Daryl Gates. Recognize the name? You might. Not only was Gates responsible for these programs, but he was also Chief during the Rodney King arrest and subsequent riots.
By the way, be sure to check out the Hockey Quiz . Answers will start rolling in after Hell Week .

Trivia Time
Okay, so I've decided to start a little trivia thing. Why? Why not.
Everyday (that I remember or can), I'll post a trivia question with the answer the next day.
I posted a Hockey Quiz . I'm going to leave that up there for at least a week and half so people can look at it. I'll slowly post the answers over the next little while.
