A Better Look and Analysis of Jets Jersey

The Jets jersey, presented here again. This time, we look at the backs and an artist look at the jerseys.

Those are the new Jets jerseys and I must say I'm an immediate fan.

I am surprised at the font used on the names and numbers. They look pretty modern, which I was hoping for but not expecting.

The stripes on the sleeves are somewhat unique, particularly on the away jerseys. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild have a similar scheme on their away jerseys with the home jersey color on a long runner down the side. The overlapping though is almost entirely unique. There are some with horizontal stripes that stop either before wrapping under (like the Senators former third jerseys) or wrap under only (like the new Florida Panthers jerseys). But to have the long stripe that runs along the entire sleeve from cuff to shoulder with overlapping elbow stripes, that's different.

Actually, the stripes themselves are different. It may be surprising, but there aren't any current home jerseys with a pair of thick, sepereately outlined stripes. You have a triple stripe pattern with color x then y then x again. Or you have a single stripe. Things like that. The two that have the closest look to the Jets jerseys (at least in stripes) are the Dallas Stars with a pair of thin stripes on the sleeves and the Toronto Maple Leafs with a pair of stripes. Both of those are arguably just outlines for a color thats the same as the main sleeve color on those respective jerseys.

I like these Jets jerseys. I really do. But how do they stack up against the others? Below I present, in no particular order (besides the Winnipeg jersey being last) all of the NHL home jerseys for the 2011-2012 season. I think the Jets fit in nicely.
