The Colorado Avalanche Ice Crew.
We continue counting down to the Jets season opener by examining some of the different ice crews of the NHL. Today, we go a little off from our normal as we travel to Colorado. They get an honorable mention.
This post is a bro-mance to the Avalanche. Not this kind of bro-mance...
Just going to highlight one of the few (if not the only) NHL ice crews with an ice crew that has an entertainment aspect to them without having the cute ladies. You are not going to find a lot of pictures of pretty girls in this blog. Unless you find spokeswomen for insurance companies hot. Or a handfull of baseball cheerleaders attractive. Then, you're in luck.
The Colorado Avalanche have a male ice crew that come out and, well, just clean the ice.
Clean the ice and dance.
That's right. They get into the action with moves they spent a few minutes rehearsing then bust them during the intermissions.
I applaud this unique squad. It's not awesome rocky girls, but it is something. You have to give them props. If you don't like them, I bet you don't like Big Mike from the Carolina Hurricanes Storm Squad (a male, plus sized dancer). And if you don't like Mike, you certainly won't like the Florida Marlins Manatees.
Yeah, a group of plus sized male dancers.
They also have the Mermaids, so don't be alarmed.
Do not misunderstand, I'd much rather have the female cheerleaders, but I have to point out there's something different out there too.
In honor of the bro-mance going on, I'm going to show some pictures of some amazing costumes from Dragon Con this year and last year. Then, a video (or two). Some of these pictures have been on the blog before. Some are brand new.
See? There's room for some awesomeness outside of the pretty girls, even though a few snuck in there. Don't worry, we'll get back to the more desired ice crews soon. But before we do, I have to share the video I'm sure you saw in your head already when you saw the Manatees.
If you are disturbed by this bro-mance talk, just remember how disturbing it could be...
Yep. Disturbing every time I see it.
You know what's generally not disturbing? Ice crews.
