Discovery Island Pictures

Warning to Stephanie and other bug haters: This entry contains images that might be disturbing.

With that out of the way, here we are in Animals Kingdom's Discovery Island. I'm going to include pictures from the Oasis here as well. There are a ton of great pictures and characters here, starting before you even get in the gates.

I did get a little worried with how close Baloo got to me.

Discovery Island is an actual island, surrounded by water. The most iconic image is, of course, the Tree of Life with animal carvings. Inside the trunk is the show It's Tough to Be a Bug. Children cry, adults squirm. But still entertaining to me! You might also catch the Village Beatniks band. Pretty decent.

Walking around this area are lots of things, but nothing more interesting that Devine, the walking ivy. A rare and awesome sight. Every time I came to Animal Kingdom, I'd look for her. I only saw her once.

Here's a video of her with some African drums in the background.

There is some cool shopping in this area, including one store with some awesome totems and turtles.

Pizzafari is one of the most interesting quick-service restuarants with a lot of wooden animals all over the dining area. But don't miss the Flame Tree Barbeque. Very very good. And you can smell its deliciousness well before you see it.

You'll find a lot of cool artwork throughout the area. By the restrooms, on lights, and in the woods.

When exiting, you can always stop by the Rainforest Cafe for a bite to eat. As they say, it's a wild place to eat!
